This is a challenging time of year for sober people.
From Christmas cards that scream “Gin-gle bells!” to wine-fuelled festive parties, alcohol is a big part of the festive season and it can soon feel as if everyone else is drinking but you.
And the chances are, you have a fair few long-held boozy traditions that need changing and updating now that you’re sober. Perhaps you’d normally have a boozy weekend away with friends in December or you’d kick Christmas Day off with a glass of fizz.
There are so many sober firsts and changes to navigate, during a time of year when alcohol is even more romanticised and glamorised than usual! 🫠
Just imagine waking up on New Year’s Day, hangover-free and knowing you did it!
Imagine feeling excited about the new year, knowing you’re already rested and happy. Your sober streak is unbroken and you made it through the festive season without a drop of alcohol. You’re so proud of yourself because you figured out how to stay sober and have fun… and you didn’t fall for any of the hype!
When you’re doing it right, alcohol-free living is such an upgrade. You’ll be able to look back on a December full of new, improved experiences. After all, sobriety isn’t about missing out or taking something away. It’s about adding genuine joy back in 😊
The Sober School Advent Calendar will guide you, day by day, through a sober December – keeping you calm, inspired and motivated.
Whether your challenge is dealing with family, work parties, pushy friends, exhaustion or loneliness, I’ve got you covered in this easy, step-by -step guide. Every day, starting on December 1st, a new “door” of our calendar will open. Behind each digital door is a short video from me, with a tip or mindset hack to help you tackle the day.
This advent calendar isn’t just about helping you survive the festive season. It’s also about helping you thrive. This is your chance to design a December that truly works for you. You’ve already taken one big, bold move by ditching alcohol… now let’s work on your self-care and mindset to make this your best Christmas yet!
This advent calendar is for you if:
But it’s not for you if:
This calendar won’t help you get started with sobriety. You need a special kind of support for those important early days and weeks. If you haven’t actually quit drinking yet, click here to check out my Getting Unstuck course instead!
“I write this surrounded by glasses of wine and whiskey on the rocks, and I do not even want to drink. I so badly wanted to wake up on January 1st without a hangover and I did! I know I would not be here at 100 days sober without you. Thank you for getting it!”
"Happy New Year everyone. Feeling so pleased that I made it through my first sober Christmas and New Year. I felt good with a silent halo over my head, amazingly and happily drinking free raspberry tea. Waking up feeling calm and rested was a true honour... and my daughter loved it."
"I can’t thank you enough for your support in granting me the greatest gift: my sobriety! On Boxing Day I was up at dawn, I mucked out three stables, showered and then headed off to see my family for more celebrations. Got to love a sober Christmas!"
Hi, I’m Kate – the founder of The Sober School. I spent my twenties locked in a cycle of heavy drinking, black-outs and monster hangovers. When I finally decided I had to stop drinking for the sake of my health, I was disappointed to discover there was very little support available.
My first sober Christmas was tough – alcohol seemed to be everywhere! I struggled through the festive parties, unsure what to say when people asked why I wasn’t drinking. For the first time in ages, I began to question whether an alcohol-free lifestyle was the right choice for me.
Now I’m more than 10 years sober and love this time of year – I can see through all the marketing nonsense and boozy adverts. I’m excited to share my advent calendar tips with you, so you can have a sparkly, sober Christmas that makes you feel truly happy to be a non drinker!
Every day, starting on December 1st, a new “door” of our calendar will open. Behind each digital door is a short video from me, with a tip or mindset hack to help you stay sober this December. As with all advent calendars, there are 24 doors to open and therefore 24 videos for you to watch. You’ll get an email each day letting you know the next video is ready. You can watch each video online or via our app.
This advent calendar is not suitable for anyone who hasn’t quit yet, or who’s in the first few weeks of sobriety. The content is designed for people who are at least one month sober and are going into their first or second Christmas as a non drinker. The advent calendar assumes you’ve already got through the physical cravings and have a good chunk of sober days behind you. You’re used to living life sober during “normal” times, but you’re concerned December will be a challenge.
Please don’t buy the calendar if you’re still drinking, or you’re just a few days or weeks sober. Early sobriety is an important time and you deserve the right support. I can provide you with that help and support inside my Getting Unstuck course (a completely different programme designed for beginners).
The next Getting Unstuck class starts in January and it will walk you through creating an alcohol-free life you love from Day 1. You’ll get support from me, my team of coaches, our community, live Zoom calls, daily lessons and more! You can find out all about the Getting Unstuck class here.
If you’re feeling really confident and happy about not drinking during December, then I’m thrilled for you! I’ve been alcohol free since 2013 and I love this time of year too. However, I remember how challenging my first few Christmases were… it took several years before I could go through the festive season and feel completely relaxed as a non drinker.
The Sober School Advent Calendar includes everything I wish I’d known when I was battling through my first few Christmases, sober. I’m also lifting the curtain on some of the strategies I’d normally only share with clients within my membership programme.
If you have any doubts about how you’ll get through the next few weeks… or you’re concerned you might feel deprived… if you’re getting by on sheer willpower alone right now… then this advent calendar will be a great way of taking care of yourself.
I know you’re busy at this time of year, so I’ve condensed each day’s video into something short and sweet that gets results. Each video is between 2-3 minutes long. You don’t need to make lots of notes (though you might want to!)
I guess the real question here is: do you have a couple of minutes to spare to ensure you make it through December alcohol-free? If you allow alcohol back into your life, you’ll definitely lose time then. Drinking, recovering from drinking and beating yourself up all takes up a lot of time…
I understand that choosing to invest in yourself can be a difficult decision.
The thing a lot of people don’t realise is just how much they used to spend on alcohol in the first place. If you’re feeling vulnerable right now and you don’t do this work to protect your sobriety, what could the cost implications of that be?
The Sober School advent calendar costs just £47. In my drinking days, I could burn through £47 in a few hours, once you account for the cost of buying alcohol, taxis home, rounds of drinks and takeaway food… There’s also the cost of things money can’t buy – the missed life experiences, the broken promises, the conversations you can’t remember. So perhaps the question should be, what is the cost of not buying this advent calendar?
I know you’ll love The Sober School Advent Calendar and it will be a brilliant investment in yourself.
It will show you the exact same principles that have supported me through 10 alcohol-free Christmases! The strategies I’ll share with you inside the calendar have been used by hundreds of clients who I’ve had the pleasure of working with in the run up to Christmas.
I’m so confident in The Sober School Advent Calendar that if you buy it and decide it’s not for you, I’ll give you your money back. You have 30 days, from the date of purchase, to request a no quibble money back guarantee. Just email support@thesoberschool.com and we’ll get it sorted out for you.
